College Accommodations 101: What Students Need to Know

Cayuga Community College welcomes prospective students and families to a virtual event around the process for obtaining disability accommodations to support equitable access to education for college students with disabilities.

    What To Expect:
The presentation will cover the process for requesting and receiving disability-related accommodations at college and highlight the differences between high school and college accommodations. Typical accommodations students receive will be highlighted including but not limited to: extended exam time, alternate non-distracting locations for testing, assistive technology, notetaking assistance, etc.

The presentation will conclude with information about how accommodations are not advantages for students but tools that remove barriers, promote independence, and help ensure all students have equal opportunities to succeed in college.

Time will be available at the end for Q & A.
